Он оставил о себе не только добрую память как жизнерадостный, творческий и очень трудолюбивый человек, но и свои музыкальные творения, живущие теперь самостоятельной жизнью, и своих учеников, которые носят в душе частичку его педагогического дара.
Михаил Спиридонович родился на хуторе Кавалеровка Ростовской области. В 1935 году его семья переехала в Ставропольский край. Мать, донская казачка, с детства прививала мальчику любовь к народной песне, в которой судьба и история народа крепко переплетались с судьбой ставшего родным Ставрополья. Она передала ему как эстафету-завещание народные песни и предания прошлого столетия, дух оптимизма, который царил в старом песенном мире.
Связь с самобытным народным искусством была отличительной чертой его творчества. Он по крупицам собирал то ценное, что передавалось из поколения в поколение, в его фольклорной фонотеке находятся сотни интересных произведений. На их основе он создавал точные и тонкие рисунки своеобразных вокально-хореографических постановок.
Торжественные мероприятия начались с возложения цветов к мемориальной доске М.С. Севрюкова и посещения его могилы на городском кладбище. Затем родственники, друзья, коллеги и почетные гости собрались в зале Центрального Дома культуры.
Любимым детищем Михаила Спиридоновича был ансамбль «Нива золотая», которому он был верен до последних дней своей жизни. Его ансамбль, один из лучших в крае, был участником заключительных показов в рамках Первого Всесоюзного фестиваля самодеятельного художественного творчества трудящихся в Москве. Дважды выступал в Кремлевском Дворце съездов. Участвовал в фестивале народного искусства в Польше.
Глубоко символично, что первым на сцену вышел именно народный ансамбль песни и танца «Нива золотая» с композицией «Хоровод». Этой музыкальной композицией при жизни Михаила Севрюкова начинались концертные программы его коллектива.
В вечере памяти приняли участие: народный ансамбль «Звонница» г. Светлограда, народный вокальный ансамбль «Истоки» с. Журавского Новоселицкого района, народный ансамбль «Надежда», ансамбль «Русские узоры» г. Светлограда, образцовая студия народной музыки, песни и танца «Степные зарницы» г. Ставрополя, государственный ансамбль песни и танца «Ставрополье», вокально-хореографический ансамбль «Слобода» г. Ставрополя.
Всем творческим коллективам вручили памятные сувениры и благодарственные письма за многолетнюю работу по сохранению, поддержке и популяризации богатого музыкального наследия Михаила Севрюкова.
